The Curriculum

The curriculum is planned within the framework of the Foundation Stage for Foundation Stage children and the National Curriculum for those in Year 1 to 6.

A wide range of subjects are taught throughout the school, including the core subjects of English, Maths, Science and Computing plus the foundation subjects of History, Geography, Design Technology, Music, Art and Physical Education. Religious Education and Personal, Social and Health Education form an integral part of the curriculum.  All of these subjects are taught using the new National Curriculum (2014).

At West Wycombe we are continuously developing our Creative Curriculum which enables children to learn through themes, throughout the school. Cross-curricular links are emphasised whenever possible so that learning in one subject contributes to and reinforces learning in others. The currriculum is carefully planned to ensure continuity and progression as well as breadth and balance.  We are using the Edison Curriculum to teach our themes and this has been mapped back to the new National Curriculum.
