At West Wycombe School, we believe that learning extends far beyond the classroom. Learning Outside the Classroom is a valued and integral part of our curriculum and school ethos, supporting children’s wellbeing, confidence, creativity and love of learning.
Outdoor learning provides meaningful, hands‑on experiences that help children to develop resilience, teamwork, independence and problem‑solving skills, while building strong connections with the natural world.
We are proud to have our own Forest School area on site, ensuring that all children can access high‑quality woodland learning throughout the year.
Every child at West Wycombe takes part in weekly Forest School sessions, led by trained staff. These sessions are carefully planned to complement the wider curriculum while allowing children to explore, investigate and learn in a natural environment.

We are also excited to be developing our outdoor provision through the OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) Programme. OPAL supports schools to create rich, engaging play environments that promote creativity, independence and physical wellbeing.
