Welcome to Year 6

Welcome to Year 6

Class teacher: Mr St Croix

About Our Class:

This is where you will find all the information you need to know about what we will be doing in Year 6; a celebration of our learning; a way for us to show you our excellent progress.  There is so much to look forward to this year, including being stretched and challenged, an exciting curriculum, trips, and an end-of-year production. Our last year at our wonderful school will be our best one yet.

Remember: it's really important to be at school every day, on time, and ready to learn.

What are we learning?

This term is such an important term. Our children are taking their first step towards secondary school by enjoying learning that will support them in their transition into Year 7. In Maths we are consolidating learning from Year 5 and preparing them to answer questions that they will come across in their Year 6 SATS papers. We learn about test techniques. Within English, we are focusing on writing for a specific audience. We use a novel as a stimulus as we believe reading is an integral part of the writing process.

PE information:

Our school P.E. days are Wednesdays and Fridays. Children need to wear their P.E. kits to school on that day. Long hair will need to be tied back and earrings must be removed on P.E. days.

Homework

Homework will be set each week on a Friday and will need to be returned the following Thursday. Homework given includes Maths, English, and Spellings. Half term projects will be given on a topic we are learning about and these will be presented to the class after half term.
